My/Your First Impression

Being a relatively impatient person, I rely on my snap judgements a lot. However, as a kid, this lesson is drummed
into me again and again: haste makes waste, look before you leap, stop and think. Thus, I often wonder how
accurate my judgements are. Thus, I decided to measure the accuracy of my first impressions on strangers with
a little experiment. Christmas Eve, I spent a day in town giving out Christmas cards to grumpy-looking people who
I thought would not accept my card.

Most people I have interviewed responded that they do judge others base on nature inevitably and majority saw
this as unacceptable. I have decided to conduct another test, aiming to measure and find out more on the
accuracy of everyone’s first impressions. Around 50 people did the survey of 6 simple questions and the results
of this survey would then be correlated with evaluations by my friends and their close friends.

This is a large format publication on the documentation of personal and public experiments done to measure the
accuracy of our snap judgements on strangers.
